A flight from New York to Warsaw carrying Polish government officials was forced to make a landing in Iceland due to a passenger suffering health problems.
The LOT Polish Airlines flight made the unscheduled landing in Keflavik. An LOT spokesperson emphasised that it was not an emergency landing.
Part of the delegation of Polish president Andrzej Duda was on board after visiting the US and Canada.
It has not yet been revealed which members of the Polish delegation were on board, or which suffered the health emergency.
This is not the first incident of its kind in recent years. In January 2022, a plane of the same airline carrying four Polish members of the European Parliament made an emergency landing at a German airport after suffering cabin pressure loss.

The plane was flying from Warsaw to Brussels when it suffered the pressure loss over Germany, forcing it to land in Düsseldorf.
At the time, a spokesman said that the Embraer 195 aircraft experienced a malfunction in the air-tight sealing system of the cabin.
Polish lawmaker Robert Biedroń was on board the flight. He wrote on X: “We have just made an emergency landing at Düsseldorf airport. The #LOT WAW-BRU aircraft had decompression on board. The situation looked dramatic, but was brought under control. Well done crew!”

Another Polish member of parliament, Elzbieta Lukacijewska, shared on social media: “It was a bad flight with a lot of worries and fear. Instead of Brussels, we ended up in Düsseldorf.”
In 2010, Polish president Lech Kaczyński was killed in a plane crash, along with all 95 other people on board.
The Polish delegation was heading to Katyn, Russia to attend a 70th anniversary ceremony for the Katyn massacre, in which Soviet officers killed roughly 22,000 Polish military officers.
