A desperate search to find missing tourists in camps in Kenya has begun.
Camps in over 14 spots in Talek, Narok have been submerged in water after the nearby Talek River’s banks burst.
According to Kenya Red Cross’s social media account on X, the the National and County Government of Narok, the Mara Elephant Project and community members are working together to understand how many people are missing.
So far, the account said, 36 people had been rescued by air.
A further 25 had been saved via an aqua rescue team.
In some of the camps tents have been swept away, the Red Cross added.
The Mara Bridge, which links the Mara Triangle and the Greater Mara, has also been washed away.
It’s heartbreaking to hear about the tourists trapped in floodwaters in Kenya. I hope the rescue efforts are successful and that all missing individuals are found safe and sound. The collaboration between different organizations and community members is crucial in such emergencies.
