A Ryanair flight quickly turned into a heated row as passengers on their way from Manchester to Ibiza started “scrapping”.
The flight, which left on Sunday night (September 8), was forced to divert to the French airport of Toulouse-Blagnac, as police were called to the scene.
Footage of the chaotic scenes showed one man being escorted off the plane, while a woman started repeatedly attacking another passenger, before officers intervened.
Travellers onboard could also be seen blocking the aisle as both airline and police staff tried to contain the rowdy individuals.
“A guy was arrested who’d started on a woman and then we stopped in France”, 30-year-old Jamal Stewart from Leeds, a passenger on the flight, told MEN.
“He got arrested and she just lost it and started scrapping with everyone.”
Another passenger on the plane, Max Ramsons, said a man had been “kicking off” before the “fighting” started, leading to the plane getting “stranded in Toulouse”.
The flight left Toulouse 90 minutes after landing and continued its initial route to Ibiza. According to FlightRadar24, the plane was seen looping twice over the south of France before eventually diverting to Toulouse.
“This flight from Manchester to Ibiza (September 8) diverted to Toulouse after a small group of passengers became disruptive inflight”, a statement from a Ryanair spokesperson read.
“The crew called ahead for police assistance, who met the aircraft upon landing at Toulouse and offloaded two passengers before this flight continued to Ibiza.
“We sincerely apologise to passengers for any inconvenience caused as a result of these unruly passengers’ behaviour, which was beyond Ryanair’s control. This is now a matter for local police.”
