‘I’ve visited every country in Asia – there is one stunning place which stands out’

A YouTuber who holds the distinction of visiting every country in the world has ranked every country in Asia from his favourite through to his least favourite.

For popular travel vlogger Drew Binsky, there’s one nation that stands out above all others with two factors placing it above the rest – its incredible beaches and hospitable locals.

For Drew, the Philippines is the number one destination in Asia. Speaking on recent YouTube video, the American said: “I’ve spent the last 12 years visiting every single country in the world.

“Asia is my favourite continent, the place I’ve called home for eight years and it’s where I’m travelling right now. I spent two years of my life travelling in the Philippines. It’s a land of over 7,500 islands and people are so friendly.

“The food is one of the most underrated in the world. And honestly, if you want the best beaches, look no further than the Philippines.

“My favourite places are Siquijor, Bohol, Palawan, Siargao and Romblon. I hope you can make it to the Philippines.”

Perhaps it’s no surprise that Drew selected the Philippines as his favourite country in Asia – his wife Deanna Sallao is Filipino with the couple marrying last year in her homeland.

The vlogger has even done a previous video about visiting his then-fiancée in her homeland in rural Philippines.

Propping up the list were Brunei and Bahrain.

On Brunei, Drew said: “It was cool the second time around but it still wasn’t that awesome. It’s just boring. There are strict curfews there and laws, you just get this feeling that everyone is watching over your shoulder.

“It just not the coolest city for me. The best part about it is the stilt homes.”

On Bahrain, he added: “The coolest thing about Bahrain is the F1 race which I haven’t been to. Other than that I just find it to be not exciting. It’s a dry country.

“Underground you can go partying and drink which is what I did when I was there. I didn’t connect with the culture that much.

“I’d much rather go to more exciting cities, I’d rather go to Dubai, even Jeddah was more exciting for me.”

The comments section of Drew’s video was predictably filled with people disputing his rankings, with one saying about Bahrain: “The things you told about Bahrain are straight up wrong.

“Bahrain is the least dry country in the region. Bahrain has a rich history with many castles and the tree of life which looks stunning. The mosques and people working there are also very nice and liberal.”

Drew himself took to the comments section to deny accusations he chose the Philippines as his number one Asian country because his wife is from there.

He wrote: “It was number one years before I met Deanna. The Philippines is simply the best!”
