Two British men have been arrested on suspicion of smashing up a well-known bar in Majorca and assaulting police who intercepted them as they tried to flee the scene.

The pair and a Serbian national held with them are accused of causing around £5,000 in damage to the popular Ritzi Lounge Bar on the night of Wednesday, September 11.

Chaos reportedly ensued after the men began arguing amongst themselves.

After reportedly being told by staff at the nightspot, located in upmarket Puerto Portals, to calm down, the men allegedly went on a rampage.

They are also accused of having fled the scene, leaving an unpaid £67 (€80) bill, before allegedly turning on police near the bar.

The officer reportedly had intervened to try to stop them after being called to deal with the incident.

The two Brits were released on bail pending an ongoing investigation.

The pair were hauled in front of a judge on Friday, September 13, wearing the same T-shirts and shorts they had on as they were arrested earlier in the week.

They had to hand more than £845 (€1,000) each as a bail bond before being set free.

The Serbian national was remanded in custody after detectives discovered he was wanted on a European Arrest Warrant for an unrelated matter and is now facing extradition proceedings.

The three police officers who reported they had been assaulted by the men, aged 22 to 50, are said to have suffered minor injuries.

Ritzi Lounge Bar is a rooftop bar which sits right on the seafront at Puerto Portals with fantastic views of the port and elegant yachts.
