FAIRFIELD, Calif. (TCN) — A 45-year-old man has been found guilty of killing his 36-year-old live-in girlfriend, who went missing last year.
The Fairfield Police Department announced that a jury convicted Mark Randle on July 25 of the first-degree murder of Erica Brown. Officers initially arrested him in the Sacramento area on Sept. 14, 2023.
Brown was reported missing to Fairfield Police on Aug. 25, 2023, after she was last seen at her home several days earlier. Officers said they deemed her disappearance suspicious in nature.
Investigators reportedly received information that led them to believe Brown is deceased, and they suspect foul play in her death.
Police identified Randle as a person of interest in the case. Randle, who also goes by “Tweezy,” “Tweez,” and “Mark Twain,” had been living with Brown at the time of her disappearance.
On Aug. 31, 2023, police issued an arrest warrant for Randle. Officers said he was on the run for several weeks before his arrest.
Randle’s trial began July 10. According to police, the Solano County District Attorney’s Office “presented irrefutable evidence of Randle’s guilt, including witness testimony, officer/detective testimony, cellular phone date, video surveillance footage, DNA evidence, and FLOCK data.”
Brown’s remains have not yet been found, but police said, “Still, it’s our hope this verdict brings some peace to the family and friends of Ms. Brown.”
