Ukraine has captured oil rigs in the Black Sea as Kyiv’s forces deal another blow to Vladimir Putin‘s Russian war machine.

Posting on Telegram, the Ukrainian State Border Service (DPSU) released images of the battle for the gas production towers near Snake Island, a Ukrainian territory that lies close to Romania’s east coast.

DPSU said: “The special forces of the State Security Service together with units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications are repelling gas production platforms from the enemy in the Black Sea.

“With titanic efforts, part of these strategically important objects, which play the role of our sea fortresses, were captured and taken under control.

“Their maintenance makes it possible to control a large part of the water area and strengthen the defence.”

Russia’s Investigative Committee said the employee, Andrei Korotkiy, was leaving his home when the explosives were detonated.

Ukrainian military intelligence posted a video of the attack online and branded Mr Korotiky a “war criminal” and collaborator.

They allege that Mr Korotiky was informing Russian officials of those with pro-Ukrainian views.

Ukrainian military intelligence said: “The Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine‘s Ministry of Defence reminds people that every war criminal will be fairly punished.”
