Inside Singapore Airline’s luxury £295m planes – from Heathrow to Singapore

At least one person was killed and around 20 injured after a Singapore Airlines flight hit severe turbulence reportedly dropping 6,000 feet.

The Heathrow to Singapore flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Bangkok due to the terrifying incident. The Boeing 777-300ER, with a total of 211 passengers and 18 crew members on board, landed in Bangkok at 3.45pm (0845 GMT), the airline said in a Facebook post.

It added: “Singapore Airlines offers its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased.

“We are working with the local authorities in Thailand to provide the necessary medical assistance, and sending a team to Bangkok to provide any additional assistance needed.”

Inside Singapore Airline’s Boeing 777-300 Extended Range

Boeing’s 777-300 ER has a length of 242.5 feet and a wingspan of 212.5 feet with 264 seats. Singapore Airline’s splits the aircraft into four classes – First Class, Business Class, Economy and Premium economy.

The carrier’s fleet also includes Airbus’ A350-900s and A380-800s, as well as Boeing’s 787-10s and 737-8s.

According to SeatGuru.com, Singapore Airlines’ 777s are plit into four open suites, with 48 flat bed seats in Business Class, 28 recliner seats in Premium Economy and 184 standard seats in Economy.

The aircraft is one of the newest additions to the Singapore fleet and features revamped seats and entertainment, according to the site.

In the newest versions of the 777-300 ER, every seat has a 110V AC power port as well as a USB port to power and charge devices.

Costs per class from London to Singapore

Prices for a round-trip economy flight from London currently start from £1,440, according to Google’s flight search tool, with the non-stop journey taking around 13 hours.

A Premium Economy round-trip starts at £3,805, though prices for all flights vary depending on when you book.

Business class seats for a return flight currently start at £6,615, while the carrier’s high-end first class flights start at £13,450.
