CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (TCN) — Police are investigating a suspected murder-suicide after finding two sisters in their 70s deceased in a home over the weekend.
According to the Chatham County Police Department, on Sunday, Sept. 15, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers responded to a residence on Windfield Drive, where they found two adult women deceased with apparent gunshot wounds. The local coroner’s office later identified the decedents as 71-year-old Deborah Hudson and her sister, 70-year-old Deloris Hooker, WTOC-TV reports. They both reportedly sustained at least one gunshot.
Hudson allegedly broke into the home through the back door and shot her sister in the chest before shooting herself. Neighbors told WTOC that the sisters’ 98-year-old father was inside the home at the time, and Hooker lived with him and served as his caretaker.
Neighbors also told WTOC there were ongoing disputes between the sisters that had been going on for years. Their most recent fight was reportedly over Hudson becoming homeless and wanting to stay at their father’s home.
